Data vs Information: ডাটা এবং ইনফরমেশন বলতে কি বুঝায়?
Data Vs Information তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি ও সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ধারণা। Data হলো অসম্পাদিত ও অগোছালো সংখ্যা, শব্দ, চিহ্ন বা তথ্যের টুকরা, যার নিজস্ব অর্থ স্পষ্ট নয়। অন্যদিকে Information হলো প্রক্রিয়াজাত, সাজানো ও বিশ্লেষণ করা Data, যা মানুষের কাছে অর্থবহ জ্ঞান তৈরি করে। যেমন, পরীক্ষার নম্বরগুলো Data; কিন্তু কোন শিক্ষার্থী ভালো করেছে, কে উন্নতি করেছে—এই বিশ্লেষণ হলো Information। ব্যবসা, শিক্ষা, গবেষণা, প্রশাসন ও প্রযুক্তিতে সঠিক Information সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণকে সহজ, দ্রুত ও কার্যকর করে। তাই Data হলো ভিত্তি, আর Information হলো সেই ভিত্তি থেকে পাওয়া ব্যবহারযোগ্য জ্ঞান।
কোন একদিন আমি আমার লিংকডইন প্রোফাইল ঘাটতে ঘাটতে পাশের ওই স্ক্রীনশট এর দিকে চোখ পড়ে যায়। তখনই আমি সিদ্ধান্ত নেই যে, অন্তত Data vs Information সম্পর্কে বেসিক জ্ঞান দেওয়ার জন্য হলেও আমি লিখব। আমার এই লেখা শুধু তাদের জন্য যারা Data এবং Information সম্পর্কে বেসিক ধারনা রাখতে চান।
Data vs Information স্বচ্ছ ধারনা
সর্বপ্রথমে দুটি উদাহরন দেয়া যাক……………
উদাহরন-১: A, B, C, 9, Rahim, Karim, 5.7 inches
উদাহরন-২:
- Name: Karim.
- Father: Rahim.
- Class: 9.
- Section: B.
- Group: C.
- Height: 5.7 inches.
এখানে প্রথম উদাহরনে যা দেখান হয়েছে তার নিজস্ব কোন অর্থ থাকলেও সম্মিলিত কোন অর্থ প্রকাশ করে না। যেমন: “A” ইংরেজী বর্ণমালার ১ম অক্ষর কিন্তু “উদাহরন-১” এ “A” দ্বারা কি বুঝান হয়েছে তা কিন্তু স্পষ্ট নয়। তেমনি “5.7 inches” দ্বারা কোন কিছুর দৈর্ঘ্য প্রকাশ করলেও কার বা কিসের তা বোঝা যাচ্ছে না। অর্থাৎ “A, B, C, 9, Rahim, Karim, 5.7 inches” এর সম্মিলিত কোন অর্থ নাই।
কিন্তু দ্বিতীয় উদাহরনে,
- Name: Karim.
- Father: Rahim.
- Class: 9.
- Section: B.
- Group: C.
- Height: 5.7 inches.
যার সম্পূর্ন ও সম্মিলিত অর্থ রয়েছে। “উদাহরন-১” হতে “উদাহরন-২” অতীব বোধগম্য। এখানে “উদাহরন-১” হলো Data এবং “উদাহরন-২” Information।
Data: বাংলায় যাকে বলা হয় উপাত্ত। এর আর এক নাম “Raw Information”। Data হতে পারে কোন একটি অক্ষর, অনেকগুলো অক্ষর, হতে পারে এই অক্ষরগুলা এলোমেলো, কোন ছবি ইত্যাদি । Google Search এ Data হলো .
”Data is unorganized and unrefined fact“
অর্থাৎ Data বলতে এমন কিছু তথ্যকে বোঝান হয় যা অসংগঠিত, এলোমেলো অনেক সময় এর কোন বিশেষ অর্থ থাকে না। Data কে Process করে প্রস্তুত হয় Information। Data এর একক Datum। কোন কোন বইতে Datum শব্দের বহুবচন হলো Data এটাও সঠিক।
Information: বাংলায় যাকে বলা হয় তথ্য। Data কে Process করে Information প্রস্তুত করা হয়। Information হলো Data Group যার সুশৃঙ্খল ও অর্থবহ গ্রহনযোগ্যতা থাকে।
Data vs Information কত প্রকার ও কি কি?
ডাটা এবং ইনফরমেশন এর প্রকারভেদ বুঝতে কিছু জটিলতা আছে। বিভিন্ন ওয়েব সাইট, বিভন্ন বিষয়বস্তু এবং বিভিন্ন লেখক বিভিন্নভাবে ডাটা এবং ইনফরমেশনের প্রকারভেদ করেছেন এবং দেখিয়েছেন। আমরাও বিভিন্ন ভাগে ভাগ করে আলোচনা করার চেষ্টা করব।
সর্বপ্রথমে, ডাটার প্রকারভেদ ।
ডাটা মূলত তিন প্রকার :-
১.নিউমেরিক ডাটা (Nemeric Data) বা সংখ্যাসূচক উপাত্ত।
২.অ-নিউমেরিক ডাটা (Non-Nemeric Data) বা অ- সংখ্যাসূচক উপাত্ত ।
৩.বুলিয়ান বা লজিক্যাল (Boolean Data)।
নিউমেরিক ডাটা (Nemeric Data) বা সংখ্যাসূচক উপাত্ত : যে সকল উপাত্ত সংখ্যাবাচক অর্থাৎ কোন কিছুর পরিমান বা কোন সংখ্যা প্রকাশ করে থাকে হতে পারে সংখ্যাটি পরিপূর্ন্ বা আংশিক, সেগুলো নিউমেরিক ডাটা। যেমন: ১ গ্লাস দুধ, ২০ টাকা, ৫.০০ সে:মি: ইত্যাদি।
নিউমেরিক ডাটা ২ (দুই) প্রকার: ১. ইন্টিজার (Integer) বা পূর্ন সংখ্যা, ২. ফ্লোটিং পয়েন্ট (Floating Point) বা ভগ্নাংশ।
অ-নিউমেরিক ডাটা (Non-Nemeric Data) বা অ- সংখ্যাসূচক উপাত্ত: এ সকল ডাটা বা উপাত্ত শ্রেনীকৃত। অ-সংখ্যাসূচক ডেটা এমন ডেটা যা পর্যবেক্ষণ করা হয়, পরিমাপ করা হয় না। অ-সংখ্যাসূচক ডেটা বর্ণনার সাথে সম্পর্কিত। অ-সংখ্যাসূচক ডেটা একজন ব্যক্তির লিঙ্গ, বৈবাহিক অবস্থা, হোমটাউন, জাতিগততার মতো বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলিকে উপস্থাপন করে থাকে। যেমন: একটি কুকির গন্ধ, বিছানার চাদরের অনুভূতি এবং একটি পেইন্টিংয়ের উপর ব্রাশ স্টোকের ধরনের ইত্যাদি।
অ-নিউমেরিক ডাটা (Non-Nemeric Data) বা অ-সংখ্যাসূচক উপাত্ত এর আরেকটি নাম “টেক্সট ডাটা” । সাধারনত কম্পিউটার প্রোগ্রমিং এ এই তিন ধরনের ডাটা ব্যবহার করা হয়ে থাকে।
বুলিয়ান বা লজিক্যাল (Boolean Data): বুলিয়ান ডাটা বা উপাত্তগুলির দুটি সম্ভাব্য অবস্থা রয়েছে: সত্য এবং মিথ্যা। বাইনারিতে, এগুলিকে “1” এবং ”0” দ্বারা উপস্থাপন করা হয়।
ইনফরমেশনের প্রকারভেদ ।
ইনফরমেশনের প্রকারভেদ মূলত ইনফরমেশন বা তথ্যের গুরুত্বের ওপর নির্ভর করে।
এই গুরুত্বের ওপর নির্ভর করে ইনফরমেশন মূলত ৪ (চার) প্রকার :-
১. গোপনীয় তথ্য বা Confidential Information (এই ধরনের তথ্য সাধারনত কোন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যাক্তির নিকট সংরক্ষিত থাকে)।
২. সীমাবদ্ধ তথ্য বা Restricted Information (কিছু সংখ্যক ব্যক্তির নিকট সংরক্ষিত থাকে)।
৩. অভ্যন্তরীন তথ্য বা Internal Information (এই ধরনের তথ্য কোন একটি নির্দিষ্ট গোষ্ঠীর সকল সদস্যদের নিকট থাকতে পারে)।
৪.প্রকাশিত তথ্য বা Public Information (সকলের নিকট থাকতে পারে)।

| Data হল একটি পৃথক একক যা Raw Information ধারণ করে এবং এককভাবে তা কোন সুনির্দিষ্ট অর্থ বহন করে না। | Information হলো এমন Data যা যৌথভাবে যৌক্তিক অর্থ বহন করে। |
| Data কখনও Information এর উপর নির্ভর করে না। | Information সম্পুর্নরূপে Data নির্ভরশীল। |
| এটি Bit এবং Byte এককে পরিমাপ করা হয়। | সময়, পরিমাণ ইত্যাদি অর্থপূর্ণ এককে information পরিমাপ করা হয়। |
| সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার জন্য শুধুমাত্র Raw Information অপর্যাপ্ত | | সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার জন্য Information যথেষ্ট । |
Data vs Information ও অন্যান্য ।
১.ডাটার চেয়ে সহজ, অর্থবহ, সঠিক, নির্ভরযোগ্য, সম্পূর্ন, বিষয় সংশ্লিষ্ট, নিরাপদ, সময়োপযোগী, প্রয়োজনীয় ইনফরমেশনের গুরুত্ব অনেক বেশী।
২.কোন এক সিস্টেমর ইনফরমেশন অন্য এক বা একাধিক সিস্টেমের ডাটা হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
৩.ডেটা প্রক্রিয়াজাত (Process) করে ইনফরমেশন প্রস্তুত করা হয়, এই প্রক্রিয়াজতকরণ কম্পিউটারাইজড সিস্টেমস অথবা অন্য কোন সিস্টেমস এর মাধ্যমে হতে পারে।
